The objective of Part 171 is to set standards, specifications, restrictions, and requirements for the issue and exercise of an Aeronautical Telecommunication Service certificate under the Civil Aviation Act 2023, and to ensure New Zealand meets and maintains applicable ICAO operating and technical standards for aeronautical telecommunication services and facilities.
Part 171 includes rules governing the certification and operation of organisations providing aeronautical telecommunication services in support of IFR flight or an air traffic service.
