This Advisory Circular (AC) describes an acceptable means of compliance with Civil Aviation Rule Part 21 Certification of Products and Parts. This material is intended to assist organisations and persons in gaining certification for aircraft types to be operated in New Zealand. The guidance material in this AC reflects international best practice and is what the CAA has found to be the most robust process for achieving type certification and compliance with the various rule requirements.
This AC relates specifically to Civil Aviation Rule Part 21 Subpart B – Type Certificates and Type Acceptance Certificates, and Subpart D – Changes to Type Certificates and Type Acceptance Certificates.
This is the initial release of this AC. It removes information regarding type certification from AC21-1 Product Certification - Type Acceptance Certificates and consolidates it in this AC.
