The objective of Part 66 is to set standards, specifications, restrictions, and requirements for the issue of aircraft maintenance personnel licences and ratings under the Civil Aviation Act 2023, and to ensure New Zealand meets and maintains applicable ICAO standards and recommended practices that relate to eligibility and currency requirements for aircraft maintenance personnel.

Part 66 prescribes rules governing —

  • the issue of aircraft maintenance licences, certificates, and ratings; and
  • the privileges and limitations of those licences, certificates, and ratings.
