Our forms have been updated to align with the Civil Aviation Act 2023 and the new Civil Aviation Rules.
Changes have been made to replace sections referred to under the Civil Aviation Act 1990 with the equivalent section under the CA Act 2023.
You can check where the sections previously referred to in the 1990 Act are now represented in the Civil Aviation Act 2023 using our quick reference guide.
Some examples of the changes you will commonly see in the forms are -
The Rule numbering under the Civil Aviation Act 2023 remains generally the same. However, under the 1990 Act, Part 19 set out transition rules. Under the Civil Aviation Act 2023, Part 19 sets out miscellaneous rules, and some rules from Part 19 have moved to other rule parts.
For example, Rule 19.7 (Intoxicating liquor and drugs) has become the new rule 91.118, and so references to Rule 19.7 in compliance matrices have been updated to Rule 91.118.
Version numbers and the forms’ date have been updated in the footer, as well as in any document control tables.
Form names have been updated to align with the CAA’s new naming convention, which standardises and simplifies form names.
Shorthand reference numbers (e.g. 24047-01) have been removed from titles unless the form is known primarily by that reference (e.g., 24FPP). However, we have kept shorthand references in a form’s footer, meaning all forms are still searchable on the website by that reference.
Some forms that are out of date, and are no longer used, have been archived.
The changes have been focused on those necessary for the introduction of the Civil Aviation Act 2023 and the naming convention.
Some minor, additional changes have been made to keep the forms modern (e.g. removing fax information; updating links) and user-friendly (e.g. expanding fillable fields which restricted participant numbers to five characters).
Longer standing issues, as well as any other issues which have developed more recently(e.g. some forms have had a jump in revision numbers) are being steadily addressed by CAA’s operational policy team, and there will be ongoing improvements.
