Participants’ expositions and operating specifications will remain in place until they’re due for renewal, or until an operator seeks an amendment for some other reason. That’s when they’ll need to be updated to reflect the new Act.

If a certificate expires on or before 6 April 2025, it will be processed under the 1990 Act and CAA will make a decision before 4 April 2025, provided the application is made in the normal timeframes. (5 April is a Saturday – CAA will not be processing applications on 5 or 6 April).

Those that expire on or after Monday, 7 April 2025 will be processed under the CA Act 2023.

The draft realigned Civil Aviation Rules have been published on the CAA website since 3 September 2024, which will help participants preparing for a renewal under the new Act.

Also, the comparison guide we have prepared compares the 1990 Act and the new Act. This will help you identify where the sections you work with in the 1990 Act are now located in the CA Act 2023.
