The Civil Aviation Authority is New Zealand’s aviation regulator and is recognised as a world leader in its field. Its activities are diverse, including the provision of aviation security at all major airports, enabling the aviation industry to meet the highest safety standards. It prides itself on being able to adapt to the constantly evolving aviation environment.

The CAA is seeking a Chief Executive/Director of Civil Aviation to lead the organisation at an exciting time of significant change. The ideal candidate will be a highly credible, contemporary leader of people with experience in culture change and expertise in stakeholder management.   The successful candidate will enable the organisation to continue to achieve superior safety outcomes, improving regulatory performance and will build and maintain the highest levels of trust and confidence in aviation safety and security.  A focus on future trends and personal traits of resilience and drive with an ability to navigate the machinery of government, is crucial.

While aviation sector experience is not essential, having experience in, and a good understanding of, modern regulation in complex organisations will be critical for success in this appointment.

The CAA has a recently refreshed board and executive team and is keen to appoint a leader who is motivated to make a difference in a role of national significance in an organisation entering a new chapter in its history. The role is based in Wellington.
