Teamwork is closely related to communication. So everything in the section on communication will apply here as well. Historically, aviation has concentrated on Crew Resource Management (CRM) in an effort to prevent aviation accidents.

But CRM can limit our view of this important concept to flight crew only. In aviation, teams work together everywhere. There are teams of flying instructors, engineers, ground handlers, air traffic controllers, flight crews, aviation security officers, and teams of managers.

Being a part of any team requires skill.

  • How do I lead?
  • How do I follow?
  • When do I speak up?
  • When do I shut up?
  • How do I deal with this conflict?
  • What are we trying to achieve?

Being able to be an effective team leader or team member is a critical NTS skill for aviation participants.

Below is a short video about the importance of teamwork. If you want to put a smile on your face, then this video will do it.
